Mexico stocks lower at close of trade; S&P/BMV IPC down 0.57%

Mexico stocks were lower after the close on Monday, as losses in the Industrials, Consumer Goods & Services and Consumer Staples sectors led shares lower.

At the close in Mexico, the S&P/BMV IPC fell 0.57%.

The best performers of the session on the S&P/BMV IPC were Alfa, S.A.B. De C.V. (BMV:ALFAA), which rose 3.59% or 0.56 points to trade at 16.14 at the close. Meanwhile, Grupo Televisa SAB Unit (BMV:TLEVISACPO) added 2.89% or 0.28 points to end at 9.96 and Wal Mart de Mexico SAB de CV (BMV:WALMEX) was up 2.20% or 1.28 points to 59.41 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Industrias Penoles Sab De CV (BMV:PEOLES), which fell 3.96% or 10.77 points to trade at 261.00 at the close. Controladora Vuela Compania de Aviacion SAB de CV (BMV:VOLARA) declined 3.28% or 0.42 points to end at 12.40 and Grupo Aeroportuario del Pacifico SAB De CV Class B (BMV:GAPB) was down 2.51% or 8.79 points to 341.26.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Mexico Stock Exchange by 133 to 95 and 17 ended unchanged.

Shares in Alfa, S.A.B. De C.V. (BMV:ALFAA) rose to 52-week highs; gaining 3.59% or 0.56 to 16.14.

Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.44% or 11.70 to $2,656.40 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in November rose 0.16% or 0.11 to hit $68.29 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract rose 0.14% or 0.10 to trade at $71.98 a barrel.

USD/MXN was up 0.10% to 19.70, while EUR/MXN rose 0.03% to 21.93.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.39% at 100.50.
